I'm 4'11 and went to see a weight loss specialist on Friday. I've been eating 1200 calories a day and exercising a few days a week for the last month and only lost 3 pounds. My doctor switched me to an 800 calorie diet instead of 1200. He said I'd you 5 foot or shorter that 800 is the only way to lose weight for us shorties. 1200 is only for maintenence after you get to your goal weight. MFP says 1200 is the least amount you should have but my doctor assured me 800 is perfectly safe and necessary for us short people. The scale didn't budge for weeks before I switched to 800. Now I've lost 3 pounds in 2 days so his advice really works!! Good luck! Hope this helps you succeed as well1

I don't know how much you have to lose but that is very bad advice and not sustainable in the long term.3 -
I have almost 60 pounds left to lose. I am also taking phentermine so sticking to 800 has been quite easy for me.
To each their own, right.0 -

Wow, 800 per day is extremely low. I'd be feeling so hungry. I am 4'11 and at 1200 per day now and get so hungry already.2 -
I also take the appetite suppressant phentermine so I don't ever feel like I need more than 800. I've lost 6 pounds in 5 days. I feel so good. 16 lbs down now. 54 more to go!
Fyi when I get to or near my goal weight I will slowly go up to 900 then 1000 until I get to 1200 which is my maintenance calories. This is definitely not permanent.

I am 4'11' 44 yrs old.. I also have been taking Phentermine for about 2 months now. I am on a 1200 calorie and exercise 5 days a week sometimes twice a day. I have lost 20 lbs so far. I have 17 more to go.
I think I'm at a plateau at the moment but I will keep on doing what I'm doing and just push myself harder at the gym. I would love to have some friends here to help stay motivated.0 -
Im 5'1 here. I started a week ago. I need to lose about 20#'s, but more importantly tone up. I am eating 1275 calories a day...i lost 1.8#'s this week but lost 7.3" overall. I am doing HIIT training 3 days a week and weights 3 days a week. I am also eating very healthy and try to remember eating my macros in protein and carbs and fats

actually i did 800-850cal. for about a year and i was perfectly fine. i am 4'7 though. i wouldn't recomment it to anyone taller than me. Now that i'm close to maintenance, i'm eating 1100 and my weight loss is extremely slow.like 100grams a week slow.1 -

Hey everyone - 5 ft here and needing to lose at least 30 lbs. The struggle is real folks.0

4'11, my HW was 13 stone 10/192lbs. Have been half-heartedly dieting a little over a month but only started taking it seriously a week ago, when I'd actually noticed I'd lost a bit.
I'm now sitting at 12 stone 10/178 and looking to get down to 9 stone/126lbs initially, although depending on how happy I am at that point I may look to lose another stone.0
