I'm embarking on a strength training program & was told by my trainer to consume protein within half an hour of my workout. Does anyone have any suggestions for the best thing to have - preferably low calorie?

That is a little bit Broscience...
You need to consume protein as part of your daily food intake and after working out is an optimal time as the body can use it best but a 30 minute window is not critical for anyone bar elite athletes. even then for them it is only going to give you marginal gains.
As for what to consume. protein is protein. eat some chicken or tuna, knock up an omelette, if you want you can use protein shakes and supplements, Fat Free Greek Yogurt, whatever floats your boat really
As far as being low calorie you are going to struggle as it has to contain some calories. most of the suggestions above supply the best calorie to protein ratio without getting silly.0
