I'm on a 1200 calorie per day plan as well but I try and limit my carbs...no breads, pasta, rice, etc for me. I do get some carbs through fruits and veggies but that's about it.

    Rice is good for you.
Whole grains are good for you.
Colorful veggies and fruit, all open game.

So you're doing 1200 and eating back some or all of your exercise calories?
If so, before and after exercise hit the starches.
    Easy peasy.

Hi Dee, I'm new too! Having the same issue with e-thing we love - has carbs. My diary is open if you'd like to look at it. I can do without the bread, rice, and most starches. My problem with starch is in some veggies. Backing away.... slowly with those! Again, I'm new and learning. We WILL get there. BTW, not sure if you're willing to eat veggie or turkey burgers but I LOVE those. You can add me. I haven't figured out how to do that yet.

Ive been going for about 3 and a half weeks now, I never really knew what to do with the calories I got back. At first I was trying to consume them but I was finding it hard but these past few days I have managed to eat more but stay within the original 1200 calories on my gym days. Think the agjustments in the macros has allowed me to get in the extra protein. I also began starting my day with fruit salad which is my only real sugar hit for the day and is mainly carbs. These were really useful guys thank you!

    Well done so far!

I don't know how much you have to lose, but I have found 2lbs/week becomes hard to maintain after a few weeks. I mean, you might get 5lbs off that way, but not 20+.

I think 1lb per week (ore even less, gasp!) is more sustainable.

Also, learn to love fats, keeping overall calories within your plan. I get up to 50% of my calories from fat, some go even higher. You will lose weight faster and feel better. Seems weird, but it works. (Olive oil, nuts, cheese, meats,...)

When you eat your carbs, let them be whole grain, whole fruit, etc.
