I have the Fitbit Charge HR. Do I need to log my weightlifting sessions with this or will it automatically sync my calories burned to mfp?

I don't think that's something a Fitbit can auto-track. Weightlifting doesn't burn a ton of calories, so many people don't log it at all.
If you wish to do so, log it in the Fitbit app, though - calorie estimates should be a little better there.

It will monitor your heart rate if it gets higher during weightlifting. I usually set mine for the beginning and end of workout since its not automatically detected. You'll need to connect fitbit to mfp to sync. There are forums and instructions on fitbits site and there is a dedicated fitbit group on mfp.0

I have a Charge HR too. What I do is push the little button on the side to start the timer immediately when I start working out and immediately when I finish. I found, in my opinion, that it gives me the most accurate calorie burn then later I'll edit it in the app or online.

Yes, manually log Weights on Fitbit's site.
HR-based calorie burn for lifting is inflated calories. Not accurate use of the formula for calories from HR.
Now - if you do easy weights and isn't hard for you, and only like 3 x weekly, maybe 30 min, and otherwise active or other workouts - the difference doesn't matter in the scheme of things, don't log it.
If you are doing hard lifting workouts, and it's the majority of your time in workouts, and you aren't super active otherwise - then the difference could be very major.
Manually log it.
Why Fitbit?
Better use of the database for getting calorie burn.
On MFP just make a wall post of your workout - don't log it. And give more details - always more interesting and inspiring anyway.
And yes - when you manually log on Fitbit, or even if you don't, the daily calorie burn comes over to MFP for MFP to correct itself, and give an adjustment if needed to your eating level.0
