Eating over calorie recommendations

Hi all,
I have been trying to eat 1330 calories which is a very good amount but end up taking 300 calories more than I should. I don't input my exercise calories burnt because I want only my eating to be 1330 calories. I don't want to beat myself up for having a craving and giving in. Does anyone have a suggestion of how to overcome this problem? Thank you

1300 calories isn't a good amount, not if you are at all active. I feel hungry all the time if I try to eat under 1600. I get a lot of exercise and eat back all my exercise calories. I need the food to fuel my runs. Eating too little will make you feel deprived and is likely to lead to binging and later regaining the weight you lose. Unless you have a lot of weight to lose (over 75 pounds) you're more likely to succeed if you set your weight loss to 1 or 1.5 pounds a week. Less than that if you only have a few pounds to lose.0

Weird. I've lost 10 lb in ten weeks, with it set at "1 lb/week". And I haven't felt deprived or hungry doing it.
I guess if those results don't suit you, do what you like.3 -

Congrats on the weight loss. Lol 1 lb a week is amazing progress. I will definitely try changing my goal to see how many calories I come up with0 -
You aren't going to find any magic method that prevents the hand from putting food into the mouth. When is it that you are eating this extra food? At night? Then get out of the house and go for a walk. EVERY NIGHT. Make it a habit. Instead of consuming calories, you'll be burning them.1

Betcha it comes up with 1830 cals/day. You were told 1330 cals/day to lose 2 pounds/week because MFP calculated that you would burn 2330 cals/day. Subtract 1000 cals/day from that (500 per pound/week of weight loss goal) and you get 1330. Which means you were trying to eat slightly more than half of the calories your body burns in a given day. Hardly surprising that you were hungry and couldn't stick to it! 1830 will probably be a much better goal for you - and one you can stick to! Just look at it this way: stick to that goal (re-checking with every 10 pounds lost) and you'll be 52 pounds lighter in one year. That's pretty darn good progress, if you ask me.1 -

In this case, aim for the moon and end up in the dirt. 2lb a week is an overly aggressive goal which is only appropriate if you are morbidly obese. In everyone else it will lead to constant hunger and probably binging and quitting. Fast weight loss is not the goal - permanent weight loss is the goal.1
