Seriously, I tried this about 20 years ago for weight loss at the recommendation of my doctor at the time.

I lasted only 2 sessions - I got the same feeling that I do sitting in front of a casino machine - "how stupid is this?"

I really wasnt giving myself over to the idea that it could work - sort of like voodoo to me, and I am a very pragmatic person so this was way out of my comfort zone.

If you believe that hypnosis can help, then give it a try - it wont hurt you.

Our son's Project Grad (it's an organized, safe graduation party that is supervised by parents) hired a hypnotist for entertainment purposes. At the beginning, he explained that no one can be hypnotized against their will (which is why I kept repeating, "I don't want to be hypnotized," under my breath). Lol. This could explain why it had no effect on you.

Hypnosis party tricks are basically a convenient excuse to act silly and not be responsible for what you did because you were "hypnotized".

Unless the actor is in on it with the hypnotist, it doesn't work.

Then there's "real hypnosis", which is again the same thing - one person having another person tell them to do something that they want to do anyway and then convincing themselves that it will work because of some magic in the hypnosis. Any effect it has is because the person being hypnotized wants to do what the hypnotist is telling them to do.

If hypnosis actually worked and you could make people do things they didn't want to without them remembering it later, I'd be hanging out next to ATMs a couple hours a day telling people they want to give me all their money and not remember anything about it later.

I'm pretty sure I just stated that it doesn't work if you're unwilling. Thanks for reiterating my point.

The placebo effect is well documented, it works :)

Hypnosis affects your focus, so why shouldn't it be of aid. You can find plenty of guided relaxation/hypnosis recordings on youtube that focus on weight loss. Give them a try for free. It can't obviously affect CICO math but it can help with resolve.

I listen to weight loss hypnosis at night for a full 8 hours and I find it help immensely with my binge eating and therefore my weight loss. I've been trying to lose weight for nearly half my life now and only once I started listening to this hypnosis was i able to actually start losing weight because I stopped binging. It no longer feels like I'm having to hold on by my fingernails to restrain myself from eating everything. I calorie count and strength train and that is where the weight loss is coming from but the ability to do this has been helped so much from the hypnosis.
