Can I swap cardio for weight lifting and still lose weight?

I'm tired and aching from all the running. Can I ditch the cardio and lift weights instead and still be on track with my weight loss goals? For every half hour of running, I was allowing myself an additional 100 calories. I was doing this 4 x per week.

Yes you can, but you may burn less calories lifting than you did running.1

If you're in a calorie deficit, you'll look to lose weight. Neither weight lifting or cardio is needed to do this. If you want to improve your fitness and health, then they are.
