I think the trend you mentioned is common with the bigger threads or groups. Once it starts gaining momentum, everyone wants to join in. But a few days/a week later it's long forgotten. I like the idea of a smaller daily check in approach so I hope you don't mind me catching up

I just started a new job which has DRASTICALLY reduced my step count! The farthest I go is 50 steps to the kitchen and it's hard to justify doing that 30 times a day. I'll be going to back to the gym next month but can't afford it for march. The weather is still pretty bad here so I don't get outside as much as I should. I'm going to try to at least walk on my lunch and take the long route to the washroom at work.
    So far in March:
    wed mar 1: 4,741 steps/1.92 miles
    thurs mar 2: 3,688 steps/1.49 miles
    fri mar 3: 3,581 steps/1.45 miles
    sat mar 4: 12,324 steps/4.99 miles
    sun mar 5: 3,243 steps/1.31 miles
    mon mar 6: 6,125 steps/2.48 miles
I think I'll make my goal 5,000 steps per day

It's great that you have joined us and 5,000 a day is great, I only get my number up high when I go to the gym. I am retired and gym is subsidised. If you have any energy left after working or even before, you could try some YouTube videos Leslie Sansone or Jessica Smith
Good luck remember every little helps, sometimes I get up and dance
BTW I'm 72 and have lost 42 lbs in a year but the exercise is to keep me fit and strong I will NOT be a little old lady with a walking aid

    Kate

Thanks for the reply! I have neighbours below me and noisy floors so I'm very cautious about home exercise but I'll check out those videos. I started taking the stairs at work and oh my, how those few flights wind me!

    Tues March 7 7394 steps /2.48 miles

Hey everyone, I'd love to join this group. I just recently changed jobs from 2 more active ones to a very sedentary one. The pay raise was great, the lack of activity not so much. I'm finding myself challenged to get even 1,000 steps a day. I like the idea I've seen of adding your steps up to get to a place. I may have to investigate where I'd like to end up. How are you calculating how many steps in a mile? I've seen different amounts so I'm curious.

I must confess, I cheat when it comes to calculating mileage. I got an older fitbit(onsale!) and it gives me a rundown on mileage that I have been checking in the morning. Here is a helpful link however:

I have been using pacer, didn't think about looking to see if it told me when I hit a mile. I did have to reload it this week though because it crashed. :( So for this week my steps are:
    3/6- 1045
    3/7- 987
    3/8- 1532
    3/9 - 1095
    3/10 - 1056
    3/11- 1100
    3/12 - 967

MY goal this week is to hit 1100 or more every day. :)
