Eating breakfast

I know that there is quite a bit of movement towards skipping breakfast, particularly among the keto crowd.
Breakfast, in my experience, has always been the one where I'm able to make the best food decisions (freshly topped up levels of willpower from a night of rest, perhaps?)
Came across this article that talks about how important breakfast is (http://www.yourworkoutbook.com/nutrition-tips-for-college-athletes/). While the article was written for college athletes, I think the lessons about the critical importance of breakfast carry over to the rest of us. I notice especially that I tend to binge eat less later in the day if I eat a big old breakfast in the morning.
What are your thoughts? Yay or nay on the breakfast?

Yay or nay. You choose!
I choose nay. I make good choices at every meal regardless of whether I've had breakfast or not. Breaking my fast later in the day makes me feel less hungry though, if I eat early, I'm always thinking about my next meal!2 -
Part of my maintenance plan is 16:8IF and I typically break my daily fast between 11am-noon. I've discovered that for me- I feel much more hungry during the rest of the day if I eat in the morning. If I wait until later in the day though, I have no issues with the persistent hunger I feel if I do eat in the morning.
Since I'm a 38 year old stay at home mom of three kids, and not a college athlete, that article really doesn't apply to me. However, not eating in the morning works well with my eating preferences/schedule. It also helps me with calorie adherence. I'm several years into successful maintenance and have consistent good feedback from my doctor with my health markers and blood work panels. I see no reason to change how I'm doing things0 -
Nay.
I personally am not hungry early in the day. But not only that. When I eat early it tends to stoke my hunger for the day resulting in more calories consumed. Therefore, I typically use a 16:8 eating schedule which easily keeps my hunger in check.
Eating schedules vary wildly for different people. Everyone should do what works best for them.1 -

This is the same for me. However, there are also people who, after eating breakfast, end up snacking throughout the day and don't do that if the eat breakfast later or skip it overall. Basically, breakfast is a personal preference for anyone who doesn't have a medical need to eat early.1 -
I'd croak without breakfast personally.2

Personally, I can start my day without breakfast.1

78% of successful losers eat breakfast every day.

Breakfast may very well be a keystone habit.

I'm biased. I am an early riser and breakfast is my favourite meal of the day.1 -

I'm actually a NWCR participant and I don't eat in the morning3 -

I was never a breakfast person, either. Now with early mornings I find I need a yogurt or something with my coffee, but if I'm up at 9 or later, those are calories I could have used at dinner, which is MY most important meal of the day.
Also, this reminds me that I haven't updated my address with nwcr.1 -
I've gone through phases, but I'm definitely pro-breakfast now. If I don't, I'm thinking about lunch by 11:00, and looking for snacks by mid-afternoon-- and that's where I can make some bad choices!
If I eat a good dose of protein at breakfast, I'm not hungry til 1 or even later, and I'm less prone to snack in the afternoon, or, if I do snack, I'm more likely to make better choices.
I usually eat about 250-300 calories-- either a one-egg omelette loaded with veggies (no cheese) or hot cereal with berries with a bit of protein powder stirred in.1 -
I'm a breakfast eater myself. I usually eat breakfast a couple hrs after I wake up for some reason. So breakfast happens around 8ish.0

Nay for me. When I chose to do IF, I gave up breakfast and gradually came down to one meal and a protein shake/bar each day in a 4-5 hours window.1

Nay - I break my fast between noon and 1:00 pm (sometimes later, depending on hunger feelz). I am one of those where if I eat breakfast, I am hungry the rest of the day, but skipping breakfast and eating larger/later meals makes it easy to not over-eat.1

^^Exactly this for me, too. I have coffee in the morning which holds me until lunch. I've been doing it this way for several years now, and eating in the morning sounds gross to me. I'd rather save it for later.
We routinely have "breakfast for dinner" --yum!!1 -
This discussion is hopeless. Too many variables, too few agreements upon definitions. Breakfast is the first meal of the day (you break your fast). Willpower is highest when you are rested, so it's easier to make good decisions - for some this can be about what to eat, for others it can be not to eat. Eating enough makes you satisfied, but eating also sets off appetite Good habits makes you less reliant on willpower. Willpower can be just using your will to get what you want, it can also be "white-knuckling". You need fuel for activity, but then there is this great "fasted cardio".
I would say lots of people eat based on what they've heard is "right". A great thing about reading, discussing and learning, is that it can help us to find out what really works.2 -

Interesting. I'm not a coffee guy, but I get the same experience with taking pre-workout. Tides me over for a few hours at least.0
