Garmin vivofit - how to track HIIT

I have a garmin vivofit and a garmin chest strap HR monitor
I do HIIT workouts 30 secs work 30 secs rest for anywhere between 20 and 30 mins
Im not sure how I should track this with the vivofit, by default it puts running - does that matter, I mean does it make any difference to amount of calories that I burn, which I assume are correct because I have a HR monitor so it knows how hard my heart my was working??

I wouldn't worry about it, as you're using an HR Monitor you know it'll be an inflated calorie count, so just ignore it.1
