Have you heard of daylight savings time? Just reset your clocks to whatever time of day is ideal for weight loss and eat. (Sorry, I couldn't resist.)

It seems to me that rules about when you shouldn't eat such as no eating after 7pm have more to do with what people are doing at various times than anything else. A lot of people watch television after 7pm. Having a rule that says not to eat during that time means the people who eat mindlessly while watching television will lose weight if they follow the rule. But what they don't tell you is that these people would've lost weight if they only ate between 7pm and 10pm also. Time has nothing to do with it.

Rules about carbs and such tend to be similar. Some people have foods that they can't leave alone once they start eating them. (I tend to be that way with milk chocolate.) A rule prohibiting certain of these foods makes it look like people are losing weight because they have eliminated a type of food when in fact it is because they are eating less.

I haven't had pop since September (okay, may one or two over Christmas) and have lost ~75 lbs.

Of course I also cut back, watched my calories, increased my activity, learned what food fills me up and took better care of myself, but it must be not drinking pop, right?

    :)

Virtually everything you've ever seen on tv or read about in a magazine (probably online, too, especially via blogs or websites with something to sell) is utter BS.

This makes me want to laugh and cry at the same time. Seriously, those people at Whole30 ruined my brain for years. They had me believing I was some kind of moral degenerate when I ate bread. Damn them!

Ain't nothing immoral about fresh from the oven bread with a slick of butter.

Wow, I read it 3x to see the word "slick" instead of "stick"

I was getting amazed by people's eating habit.

I mean, the more butter the better right? And if you're going to eat the whole loaf then you might well need a whole stick!

Making myself unimaginably crave-y but it's 9pm here so no bread and butter for me!

Why not. No such thing as too much butter.

I've been meaning to ask the people here... what's the best butter and where to get it?

I love unsalted President butter but there has to be better ones out there.

Yep, it's all about the calories. In terms of weight loss it doesn't matter what kinds of foods you're eating, just that you're hitting the correct calorie deficit for your weight loss goals. No need to make drastic changes to what you currently eat, or cut out a bunch of things you enjoy-you just need to learn how to fit them into your calorie targets :)

Yes and no. Weight loss is all about energy balance. In that regard, a calorie is essentially a calorie although not totally equal as some require more energy to digest. Nutrition and satiety are another matter entirely. In that regard, they are anything but equal.
