What I Hope When I Transform

What do I hope when I go from 214 to 154 lbs?
I hope to have the confidence that I do not have now. I hope to wear crop tops and skirts and shorts and think "I LOOK GREAT!" and not "I look gross."
I hope that I will still wear black just because it is my favorite color, not also because I look thinner in it (navy blue is the enemy!)
I hope my hair gets as long as I want it to be and I can be living proof that black girls CAN grow hair.
I hope my hyperpigmentation clears up so I don't have to feel like I need foundation, WHICH BY THE WAY IS NEVER IN MY SHADE! COME ON CVS!!
I hope my teeth becomes whiter so I don't feel self-conscious when I smile.
I hope my chubby cheeks disappear so I can smile like a normal person, not like I'm in pain. So people will no longer have the urge to pinch my cheeks without permission. If they dare grab my face, my (hopefully) chiseled face will slice them!!
I hope my legs get smaller so I don't have to hide them in jeans in the summer.
I hope my stomach gets smaller so people don't have to stare at it. It's there, guys.
Not everybody has the abs of a Greek god.
I hope I will not take bullcrap like I did in my 19 years of being on this planet. I hope I am no longer a pushover and will speak up when someone or something is upsetting me.
I hope I don't lose any friends because I have heard stories of people losing friends after losing a lot of weight.
I hope my brows get thicker and the lashes are longer....because I was never blessed with them (I spend twenty minutes everyday filling in my brows).
I hope my stretch marks go away. Ofc they cannot go away but hopefully fade... soon. I don't like mine.
I hope I don't get paranoid about gaining all the weight back. I hope I have the same support from my friends and family. I hope I can inspire people who also want to lose weight and maybe give advice. I hope I will still be the same funny, semi-sarcastic, goofy girl who loves art, video games, memes, and blipster/grunge fashion. Bye bye!!

Some of that will change and some won't. The biggest thing you can do for yourself along the way is to work on your mental health and how you see yourself. Losing the weight doesn't automatically switch your brain to being confident or loving your body, those are things you have to work on independent of weight loss. You'll get there.3

Don't wish for it, work for it.3

This^^ Many of the things you wrote have little to do with your weight. Work to be the best you.1 -
I hope you learn to love yourself the way you are and not depend on appearance and reactions of others to feel like an amazing young woman!1

You may look for this mythical person in a lot of places. I've looked for her in many I shouldn't have--namely in harmful self-destructive and defeating ways and in how other people (cough men cough) react to me.
She's not real. You are! You have that on her. Treat yourself kindly. If that means losing weight, go for it! Eat good food and exercise in ways that are fun and challenging. Do it with love because you are a flesh and blood person with hopes and feelings, not a list of traits to be culled.0 -
I was overweight/obese for 20 years. I always had this idea in my head that if I wasn't fat my life would be great "none of this miserable *kitten* would happen if I wasn't so fat". Reality is, after losing over 70lbs, life is exactly the same. It's not better or worse. I'm the same person with the same challenges and joys and the size of my pants has NO impact on that. I mean sure, little things are better obviously. I feel better, I can do more. But no life changing "everything is great now I'm not fat". The other weird thing is I still look the same when I look in the mirror, despite dropping from a 24 to a 16 (AUS sizing). I think because weightloss happens slowly, you don't notice the little changes and your mind doesn't get the comparison with where you came from.1
