HI guys!
I have a quick question.

I am looking to lose 15lbs :)

SO I wanted to do the TDEE method. and went on Scoobys calculator. 20% of my TDEE was 1700. So I dropped it to 1600cals just because i liked the number better :)

anyway. I burn a little over 200 cals a day right now. and i don't add in my exercise calories. so i just eat 1600 and thats it.

i am 5'2" looking to be 110lbs. i am current;y 125lbs.

I used to be 110 and i loved how i looked!.

So I just want to make sure my numbers are okay?

With only 15Ibs to lose you should try TDEE-10%.

    20% may be too drastic.

If you're doing TDEE, you definitely don't want to add your exercise calories back.

I think it's ok to start, but when you get to only having 10 to lose do TDEE - 10%. I'm thinking your 1600 won't be enough calories to continually lose weight.

You should do something less than 20% deficit. Somewhere between 10-15% with so little left to lose.
  • okay! I think once I get to 10lbs I am going to bump it down to 10% :) thank you!

Are you sure your calculation are right.

You weigh much lighter then me and I aim for 1800 every day (with PWO). I also don't eat back my exercise calories.

What are your numbers? An accurate BF% is essential to get an accurate TDEE

1600 would work at a healthy rate, but may be slow. According to BMR formulas, your BMR is ~1396. Most people on here doing calorie deficits of at -500 from maintenance which is right around the BMR for the individual. That 1400 would be the more of the goal according to standardized formulas...

    Remember she's 20 and only 5'2" @125 lbs.

    I agree with this post.
  • okay, but if I ate 1600, then burned a little over 200. thats netting at 1400.

is that okay? its like the same thing... i think. or should I eat 1400 and burn 200.. then thats only eating 1200 calories a day.

Well shoot, you added a variable.

A lot of people don't consider their exercise calories when writing these posts. Yeah, if you net 1400 calories *after* you exercise, then 1600 is the number to shoot for.

OP, you already at a healthy weight, why would you want to go down to 110lbs?

Ever thought that what you need might be some good lifting to reshape your body instead of trying to go as down as 110lbs?

I'm 5'2 as well, 130lbs and could never picture myself at 110lbs o_o

If you figured out your TDEE -%, that number includes exercise so nevermind about NET calories.

You only do Net calories if you go by MFP numbers which do not include exercise.

I was 110 last year and I felt really good!

If you feel good at 130lbs then thats great! :)
I guess everyone is just differen't

I'd say try it for a month and see how you get on, then reevaluate. It sounds reasonable.

I'd encourage you to lift weights if you aren't already, since it likely isn't your weight but your body composition that is bothering you.
