Looking for a roomy, rounded toe box with narrow heels and/or heel locks, and neutral soles in sneakers, trail runners, and lightweight mid-height hiking boots.

Any suggestions?

Merrill Moabs for hiking/trail running. Sauconny Echelon for running/walking. If you need a boot for backpacking Lowa Renegades are good. Nowadays, I only wear boots in snow, and wear the Moabs for regular hiking but my husband still wears Lowa boots on rocky trails. You might try Hokas if your arthritis is especially bad and you need more cushion.

Altra Footwear, I started with their running shoes. Now that they make casual shoes I wear Altra for everything. Check out Yoga Toes and Correct Toes.

Hubby has never seen Altras in stores. Do they not exist in northern New England? :( Never really see Saucony stuff either.
