Genetics play a big part in whether you will have loose skin or not. Aside from that, if you lose weight slowly then your skin may have a better chance of tightening up before the loose skin is noticeable.

Genetics plays a large role in skin elasticity. All you can do is lose at a reasonable pace, generally take care of yourself (hydrate and moisturize), be patient and hope for the best. A little loose skin is a small price to pay for your long term health and wellness!

Definitely moisturize. I am not trying to sell you a product, but I am going to tell you what I have found to personally work for me. I started using this after I had my first child and my skin was just wacky. It did smooth it out and honestly I could tell a difference in the elasticity and quality of my skin. The 'proof' for me was my left arm. I had some really bizarre deep lines that had developed from always carrying my son a certain way, and it looked like stretched out old people skin. After some time (a month or two?) using this lotion, the lines disappeared completely. It has also actually minimized some of my old stretch marks and surprisingly even a few old scars. Because it is reasonably priced I have been using this product as my main all over lotion for 8 years now, and even use it on my face sometimes. It just feels good, and I have really dry skin. I don't know if we are allowed to put links here, so I'll just tell you the product and where I get it from. I order it from iherb or vitacost and it is called: Reviva Labs, Elastin & Collagen Body Firming Lotion. It will be using this lotion for as long as they supply it.
***edited to add: About my left arm and it being my 'proof'. I got lazy and stopped using the lotion for a while with my second baby and the ugly lines and old people skin on the inside of my forearm returned. Went away again after resuming use of the lotion.

While genetics does play a good part in your skins elasticity, what you choose to put in you body and on your skin does have a big effect as well.

Here's a good article on basics of how our diets and environments can effect how well our skin can recover from weightloss http://www.huffingtonpost.com/ben-greenfield/tighten-loose-skin-_b_1070172.html

I have lost over 100 lbs and loose skin in some areas (under my arms) is a minor issue - I look at it as a badge of honour - I worked hard for it!! But I am old as dirt, and dont care, so maybe my little story doesnt have any relevance to young, beautiful women like you other posters here!! (and beautiful guys too!)

I've lost that much weight and didn't get loose skin. I lost it at a moderate pace and exercised during. That is said to help, along with genetics, which is a big question mark, and age, which you do have going for you.

Don't crash diet and do exercise and you should be fine :)
