can you have more protein than what is allotted in 1200 calories diet?

Yes! MFP's setting for protein are notoriously low. And you can likely have more than 1200 calories per day as well - that's the bare minimum standard for women, and too low for a good many of us.0

Take a look at this article for how much protein and fat to eat. Really, you should not be worried about a percentage as much as how many grams you eat based on your body weight and goals.

Absolutely you can. I have been told to try and eat 70-80 g a day by a dietician. (I am in a weight monitoring program, hoping to have bariatric surgery)0
