Can someone clear this up for me please.
I have garmin vivofit to count my daily steps. I use MFP to log calories and in order to lose 1lb a week it calculates I should consume 1690 a day. According to garmin I have earned an extra 286 calories today because I've done 12453 steps. However, even though MFP has synched my steps it doesn't aknowlege any extra calories unless I manually log in an exercise, for example 30 minutes of cardio. Which of these apps should I be following? Garmin's extra earned calories or MFP no extra calories for steps?

The synching can be pretty buggy. Try eating back about half of your "bonus" calories (as they tend to be overestimated) for 2-3 weeks, and then see if your rate of loss is what you expect.

Oh, and it depends on your activity level in MFP. If you have it above "sedentary", you have to hit certain thresholds on steps to get any extra calories. I leave mine on sedentary so I can earn my calories daily by walking.
  • Thanks for the sugestion. I'll try that. It has been vèry confusing.
