Roller skating

I am taking my kids skating today. I plan to log it in mfp because I don't skate often, use to but not anymore. When I put it in mfp it says for 2 hours it's over 1000 calories burned! Is this right? Does anybody do this and use the numbers mfp gives you or do you put in your own numbers? Answers are appreciated.

When I rollerblade I use a heart rate monitor and for me it's about 100 calories per 10 minutes. So 40 minutes for me is approximately 400 calories. So for 120 minutes it'd be approximately 1200 calories if you were consistent, and much less if you weren't.

Casual rink skating isn't going to burn that much, and also you aren't doing a full and consistent 2 solid hours of it I would imagine. It really depends on your stats, and how much you keep your heart rate up.

My guess it casual skating would burn maybe a little less or maybe the same as walking.

Hmm, you have to be careful with those. I log my figure skating practice and the first entry I chose gave me ridiculous numbers - 600+ for 45min. I experimented with a different entry which now gives me much more realistic numbers.

Okay thank you. I was there for 3 hours, skated about 2.
