You've received some really great advice here. Just want to add a couple of things. First off, we always hear that muscle weighs more than fat but the reality is, as someone previously stated, a pound of fat weighs the same as a pound of muscle. Look at it this way, picture five pounds of bricks and then five pounds of feathers. The brick is muscle and the feathers are fat. Secondly, it takes more calories to maintain muscle than it does to maintain fat so putting on more muscle is a good thing! Finally, to second IcecoffeeNchocolate, people need to not only mellow out but actually read the post and responses instead of posting crap based on the thread title only.

They are obviously trying to say 'muscle is denser than fat' so you'll lose inches and the scale can remain flat.

That's why I made that distinction. Whenever people say muscle weights more than fat, its the equivalent of saying that gold weighs more than aluminum. The point isn't to check one pound of each, its to check equal volumes and see which weighs more.

past experience tells me when people make threads like this they name it based on their already decided thought process and theres not much to be said to change their mind.

Thats really sad, You can do it. But i guess dont let the door hit you on the way out.

If you change your mind theres TONS of really smart people who can help here but i guess thats your choice.

    Exactly...

The thread title was misleading. I didn't and still don't want to give up. I was frustrated of not losing any weight (on the scales)for 7 weeks despite of the effort I'm putting in. You must have read the rest of my original post so you'll be aware that I didn't mention giving up in it. I was hopeful for support and got it in spades. Maybe you didn't read the rest of the threads that followed and possibly stopped reading after this particular response otherwise you would know this.
So, the door won't be hitting me on the way out and thanks for your support.

Wow! That is extremely helpful, thanks. This is an example of what a lot of people have said in their response about fat and muscle. There is hope!!

Try to focus more on the food intake instead of the exercise. I noticed the same though because it's as if I can't lose now that I started exercising and all I do is walk a mile or two each day. It's frustrating but I'm hanging in there.

Positive thinking that's what we need. We will get there. In my case I've done this 3 times before and each time it has stayed off ( until I got pregnant again but we're having no more babies here. Shop is closed for refurbishment!)
