I'm curious how many people have experienced this kind of thing at the gym, I'm sure lots.
Throughout my adult life I had a pain that was kind of in my collar bone and ran over and around to the back of my neck. Most days it would irritate me to some extent, and at its worst had my continually rolling my shoulder around and twisting my neck trying to make it go away. Often in pain during the night.
A few months ago I happened to be discussing it in passing with a couple of trainers, and we got to discussing shoulder exercises. One of them showed me a certain exercise ("diamonds" as it happens) and within a few days of doing them the pain went, and I have never had it since. Not even a mere hint of it.
So perhaps there are other stories to be shared of this nature, of healing of specific injuries by way of training. (I like to use mine to rebuff people who say "Oh I wouldn't go to a gym. Once you reach a certain age you're more likely to get injured!")

That is so awesome!! I started to have pain in my ankle and foot after when I would first step down on it after being off my feet for awhile. I talked to my chiropractor about it and he said it was from getting older and losing my arch in my foot. BUT, I noticed after I lost ten pounds the pain is rarely there or not as bad. I just don't think my ankle could support my weight gain and I am getting back on track now so it is disappearing! I hope it will disappear completely when I lose some more weight. I was so happy, because I am only 28 and don't want to start having problems this early. Congrats to you for getting out of pain, too.0
