I need help with feeling guilty.

I need some encouraging words; I'm known for being too hard on myself. For the past (what seems like) months, I've been trying to do the best with trying to get the gym 5 days a week, but something ALWAYS gets in the way. The past few weeks I've forgotten my gym clothes at home at least one day a week (I go to the gym during my lunch break or DIRECTLY after work or else I won't do it). Literally left them sitting on my bed because I forgot to pack them in my bag. Other times it's because something comes up with work. Since the beginning of the year, Ive only been able to go on average, 3 days week.
I feel SO guilty about it because I'm just slowing down my weight-loss progress. I'm a short person so in order for me to consume enough calories to be satisfied (ie: not starving and craving sweets), I need to offset it with exercise.
Does this happen to anyone else? How to you handle it?

Is there a way you can keep 1 set of workout clothes in your car for the days you forget the regular ones? 3 days a week is good. Some people can't get off the couch to march in place for 5 minutes a day. So yay for you for making it 3 days a week.
Spring is here so that will be a good motivator ( unless your work schedule changes during the spring). Do the best you can. May be slower but you are doing more than a couch potato. Can you do body weight , dumbbells, or toning cords at home for the days you can't get to the gym?
You are doing great. This rough patch won't last. By asking and posting here, you are showing great dedication an that means you are craving success1 -
How about going for a walk in your lunch break if you forget your gym kit. I know it's not the same but it does burn a few calories for you to eat later.
I'm the same and need to get in some exercise calories to keep me satisfied.0 -
I appreciate your dedication and desire. If you look at it objectively, there is absolutely no reason to feel guilty because something came up at work. We can't control that, unless you feel you are using it as an excuse in the wrong way, which I doubt you are. There's no rule that you have to go 5 days a week, it might even be too much. Maybe you need to set your goal for 3 days a week so you can be successful for awhile.
You can still achieve a deficit through logging and 3 days of exercise. It doesn't matter if your loss is a little slower. It's ok to target .5 -1 lb per week rather than 2, which I assume is what you chose. Depending on how much you have to lose, a slower rate is healthier for your anyway. As far as remembering your gym clothes, you can pack your bag and put it in the car the night before. You can address satiety by adjusting WHAT you eat, such as lots of protein, and when you eat. It differs for each person, but there are lots of threads about this topic here on MFP.1
