Cleaning machines at gym

I have a weird question...

Today I was working out in the gym at my apartment. I always clean the machine prior to using it as I've seen so many people leave without cleaning after themselves. About 25 minutes into my workout on the elliptical my finger tips started stinging. It was mild. But by 30 minutes they were burning pretty bad. I've now had my hands under cool, running water for almost an hour with little relief.

The bottle of cleaner was completely full. It's a refillable, unmarked bottle that my complex uses. I've never had this problem before. Has anyone else ever experienced this?

I called the complex to let them know. This bottle was full so I'm wondering if they put the wrong chemical in it. Or if they're supposed to dilute it and didn't.
