So I'm kind of new here, so sorry if this is awkward. My name is Lauryn, I'm 17, and I'm currently 215lbs at the height of 5'6. I've been struggling with my weight for 6 years, and I'm finally trying to commit to a healthier lifestyle.
When I was younger, I didn't have a weight problem, I was actually underweight, but my stepmother didn't know how to cook, so we ended up eating fast food every night which sparked my problem.
6 years later, I'm living with my grandparents currently at this weight, and I'm disgusted that I let myself get this unhealthy. I wear long-sleeved shirts and blue jeans in the heat of the day because I have stretch marks on my arms and legs that look like spider webs, and don't get me started on my stomach area.
But, I'm finally ready to commit. I luckily don't have a problem with calories, and manage to stay under 1,900 a day, but I just don't get as much exercise a day as I would like, cause I usually only get 45-80 mins of dancing a day. But it isn't difficult choreography which is the problem.
Also, I feel like I need to lay off soda and carbs, and increase my water and protein.
If anyone has any advice, I'd be happy to hear. I'm really just concerned about my health, I have an average pulse of 100bpm(which is in the normal range but still kind of high)and we have high BP in my family, and it's perfect now, but it won't be later on.

Wonderful that you've started to invest in yourself! If I may make one suggestion, right now don't overwhelm yourself with counting calories. The first step is to introduce healthier options into your daily routine. You mentioned you drink soda and eat a lot of carbs. Start this week by cutting back your soda. Today replace once soda with water, tomorrow replace 2 sodas with water... I love adding lemon or other fruit to my water to make it more exciting to drink! Tackle cleaning up the calories you are drinking, water is what your body really needs! Then move on to tackling your food intake. Still don't focus on the calories. Focus on putting healthier choices on your plate. Eat more lean meats, fish, veggies and fruits, eat the "good" carbs like rice and sweet potatoes. Steer away from processed foods like white breads, cereals.. which usually have added sugar. Just cleaning up your diet will jump start your metabolism. Best of luck! You're onto great things!
