Real or Temporary Inch Loss?

Hi!
Sorry if this has been asked before, couldn't find the topic.
I have a fair amount to lose (about 4 dress sizes) and in 2 weeks I've lost a total 7.8" from my waist, hips, underbust, thighs, upper arms and neck through healthy eating (but not counting calories), resistance training and just generally loving my body- I'm thrilled but I know most people say easy come, easy go; that quick weight loss is almost always water weight.
So I guess what I'm wondering is, when you lose inches, how do you know if it's real or just water weight/de-bloating?
