Supplement advice?

Hi! I was wondering if I could seek some advice. I am a 21 year old female and very into weightlifting and hoping to someday gain a muscular physique. I am a very clean eater and workout 5 days per week both weightlifting and cardio. However, due to sometimes finishing work late, I normally have dinner at around 7-7:30pm and then train at 8:30-9pm and after my training session I've been having a Gold Standard Whey Protein which I don't know if its a good idea to intake as a last meal as I have been feeling rather bloated lately. Would you be able to advise on whether or not I shouldn't be having a protein shake so late after my training session as a last meal/snack?

Thanks in advance!!
Kiara

    It's personal preference.

I can eat a big meal before bed and be fine. Others find even a snack can make their sleep restless or give them heart burn.

It's personal preference. Meal timing means very little for people who aren't top tier athletes.

If you want muscle. Eat in a mild surplus and take your time. Ensure you're eating enough protein for repair.

I love protein shakes before bed. I sleep well on a full stomach. If the shakes make you feel bloated you could eat some meat instead. There's nothing like waking the whole house up with the smell of midnight bacon, or being woken up by midnight bacon. That's good too.

Edit: Greek yogurt or cottage cheese are good high protein snacks too and don't require cooking.

Midnight Bacon was the name of my band in high school.

It's it hard for you to get the proper amount of protein if you don't take the whey? I'm 230 and I consume about 160 to 180 grams of protein a day and I have built a great physique. I don't use protein powder anymore and get my daily protein with whole foods. If you can get between .6 to .8 grams of protein per pound of lean body mass you should be on the right track, if you need to supplement to hit that goal then by all means.
If you are feeling bloated maybe switch to a plant based protien. Vega sport is good and it is low carb like whey.
