so, seriously, what works for the person who has tried a hundred times to get their weight under control and they do really well for a week or two and then fall and feel horrible about it and 2 weeks later try again and fall again and repeat this cycle for years???? This is me...... I do well eating whatever I want and counting on MFP and can lose weight but then I read articles etc on what one should eat and get overwhelmed and just quit. I want to lose weight but I also want to be healthy. My problem is I don't care for a lot of the fruits and vegetables because of the texture of them. For example, I can't eat strawberries because the seeds cause issues with my gag reflex. I quit smoking 2 years ago and more recently gave up soda but why can't I seem to simply cut back on the food I eat, especially sugary food. I am definitely a sugaholic :( I never had a weight problem until after I had my total hysterectomy about 7 years ago. I am 39 years old, 232lb female It has just kept piling on since then. Some times I feel like I subconsciously want to fail, so I don't have to face the world, but then I will sit at home and cry, because I don't want the world to see me the way I am. I don't like to see me the way I am. Any suggestions, tips, or friends in the central Illinois area who would like to mentor me on this journey are greatly appreciated! :) And I also want to say that I read these message boards a lot and find each and everyone of you so amazing! And since this is a success board my successes are quitting smoking and soda which if you know me knew that Pepsi was my favorite drink and needed it to get through my day like some people need coffee, so HUGE SUCCESS there lol Thanks for listening

Im not sure if I have all the answers buy maybe try making small incremental changes, and taking down time to feel proud when you accomplish them ! You sound like you need to celebrate your successes a bit. So set a small goal - whether it be calorie, it portion or jusy eating less of something that you tend to overdue. And then when you accomplish it, feel good about the fact that you are in charge and made an educated choice for your health. It's easy to get overwhelmed because there are SO many opinions out there but maybe just take some small steps and don't take everything on all at once. Keep experimenting with veggies and fruit till you find something you like. Maybe browse Pinterest for some recipes that appeal to you and try something new each week! It can be a sort of healthy food exploration! It's a fun hobby.

It is simple. Notice I didn't say easy, but simple. People (you) get too caught up in stuff that doesn't matter and quite frankly makes it harder. You can eat anything you want. Period. There are no demon foods. None. eat what you like, stay within your calorie budget, (I use a weekly number, not daily) Win. You don't need to avoid a damn thing but too many calories. Sometime, way down the road after you get your weight loss going and being consistent, you may start looking at other factors like macros. Please, keep it simple, eat at a calorie deficit and try to get a little exercise. That is ALL it takes (and the exercise is optional).
