Morbidly Obese with diabetes trying to get going again

In early 2015 I found out I was pregnant with my second child and at the time was pushing 280 pounds. I'm only 5'3". I've always been on heavier side but that was the heaviest I had ever been. At 24 weeks they did the glucose test and my fasting blood sugars were through the roof. They were so high the follow up test yout usually have to do was skipped. They told me that meant I had diabetes before I got pregnant. Well, that's something I never thought to test for when I wasn't pregnant. I was in a lot of pain so exercise wasn't an option but I was put on a very strict diet. And I followed it. I was terrified for the life of my unborn baby. By the time my daughter was born I'd actually LOST weight.
Even right after she was born my diabetes was controlled much better with just medication I was less strict with my diet. But I wasn't loosing weight or gaining it and the doctor wasn't happy.
I don't know exactly what happened in June but something made me stop and really think about what my body's state meant. I think part of me was terrified and I think part of it I was entering a manic episode (I have bi-polar disorder) but I bought my first pair of tennis shoes, ever. I loaded up my kids every day in a double stroller and pushed them 2-3 miles around town. If it rained I used an old gazelle my dad wasn't using. And I used MFP religiously. I was extremely strict about what I ate and I recorded everything.
I started dropping weight pretty fast. By October I was down 44lbs. But then things slowed down for me. It got cold (I live in MN) I had to rely on the gazelle and I slowly stopped exercising and then the food slipped. I gained about 10lbs back and then I'd lose 5 and gain a couple and lose some and just kind of maintained around 243-245. At some point I stopped worrying about my health and stopped caring.
Until now that is. I'm back to a regular exercise schedule, back to a balanced diet and I'm already seeing progress after 9 days.
My goal to hit 150lbs. I don't know if that's what I'm supposed to be at but I don't remember ever weighing 150lbs. Right now I'm at 240 so 90lb to go... I tell myself I have 9 months to do it.
I'd post a before and now photo but I don't know how, I'm on a phone...

Hi! I'm going to friend you.
To lose 90 pounds in 9 months is very ambitious! You'll probably be able to lose 10 pounds a month the first couple months, but then the smaller you get the harder and more dangerous it is to keep a steep deficit.
I wouldn't rely too much on keeping to a time schedule. Just set your MFP plan at 2 pounds a week, if you work out then only eat back half the calories as they're very inflated. Eventually you'll have to knock back your plan to 1 pound a week (smaller people lose weight more slowly! Eventually you'll be one of those smaller people.) Then when you have 10 pounds or so you'll have to cut back to .5 pounds a week. Again, because you'll be small!
MFP is a tried and true method of weight loss. Just follow the program and eat the recommended calories (yes... even if it seems more than you initially thought.) MFP is about learning new habits and not being miserable. (To me at least.)
As you look around you'll notice that there's a lot of talk about weighing food. A food scale is highly recommended!
Don't be afraid to ask questions. Keep in mind this is an online forum, so you'll meet all types.3 -
