Struggling with the past...

I had been doing great for a few weeks and then I had a discussion with a family member that brought up a lot of old feelings and pain having to do with food and undiagnosed eating disorders. The past couple days I've been binging like crazy and I can't seem to shake it. It's gotten bad enough (in my head) that today at the gym I felt so paranoid like everyone was watching me work out. Of course it didn't help that I didn't have any music to listen to because my ipod was dead and my phone had no reception, but still.

For those who know how I feel (which I'm assuming is a lot of people on here) how do you cope with these feelings and not let them get to you? I used to be able to switch sides and not eat instead of binging but now it's like I'm stick in one mode and I can't break free. Advice?

I really am trying to do things the healthy way this time... :/

Well you have already done a good thing and have not given up. You're still checked my in to MFP and that's huge. Setbacks happen. We're here for you

I had a binge weekend- with no excuses. No stuff from my past or anything. I just really wanted to have popcorn and ice cream Fri and Sat nights. Lots of both. Really?? Well, it happens. Keep logging and keep posting. You'll get back on track if you "just do it". Many of us on here get stuck in unhealthy mental places. Looking forward, and not backwards, will help you a ton. Also, don't beat yourself up over it. We often can be our own worst enemies. Each new day is an opportunity for a fresh start.
