HEELLPPP!!!!!! SPINNING... GOOD OR BAG

Im thinking of adding some spinning classes to my weekly workout routine.. NOW ive heard some mix reviews.. some say that it definitely tones your whole legs and butt, and others say that it doesn't, due to the fact that your over straining the same muscle for a long periods (45mins straight) without rest) which also makes sense.

Any testimonials? Or advice?

Thanks Guys!!!:flowerforyou:

Spinning classes are a great choice for cardio alternatives but shouldn't be used as a supplement to strength training. Over time you'll be sure to notice some muscle gains but you'd be better off doing some actual resistance exercises.

If you're worried about fatiguing your muscles, as long as you have a proper diet to support their extended use then you shouldn't have any problems. Lattice acid buildup isn't uncommon though, so be sure to warm up and stretch properly afterwards!

Spin classes are fun. Go for it.

Spinning, just as with any exercise is neither good nor bad...it is completely neutral. Whether it belongs in your workout routine depends on your fitness goals. I plan on doing a great deal of it come winter as I ramp up for triathlon next summer. It'll be a good way to get in some cycling miles until things warm up a bit outside and the snow melts.

The spin that I do is interval training. So it's not just pounding away full bore for 45 mins. Classes vary.

If you want a good cardio workout, Spin. If you want to tone (hate that word) your legs, lift weights as itwould be much more effective. Regardless, your diet needs to be in check to get the results you want.

Went to my first class today, with my newly bought padded seat in hand, asked the teacher how to adjust my bike properly. No joke, it hurts to put all your upper body weight on that tiny seat. I made it through 30 mins, which was my goal, I wasn't really that tired, just sweaty, but my crotch could take no more. Pace yourself.

I have done a few classes. I think it is fun! It is comfortable. It is indoors. you meet people. it doesn't take too long. The instructor pushes you to work hard.
