First > Not interested in a smart watch. Don't care about GPS/step tracker.
No plug in charging.

The precis of what I need:

> Easy to set countdown timer. Like, i can easily set 90 seconds, and hit a button. It vibrates when the 90 seconds are up. Then, I need to be able to easily restart the 90 second timer.
> STRONG Vibration alarm, obvs. (NO beeping!)
> Durable. Some lifts require wrist wraps, so I'd have to shove it in my pocket.

Other nice to haves are temperature and such.

I've looked at G-Shocks, but it's not quite clear if they fit the bill.

Don't have a big budget for this, since it's just so I don't spend too much time in the gym on lunch break.
Keep it cheap, like $150 tops.

I guess it doesn't have to be a watch either. Just some kind of wearable that fits the above.

The Pebble 2 is well reviewed. I have the original and the silent timers and alarms are by far my favourite feature, well above any "smart" features.

Looks pretty cool, but I don't want to have to charge my device. Still tempting anyway, though iit looks like fitbit bought them out and might "discontinue features" whatever that means.

I googled "wrist workout timer" and tons of things came up. Seeing as you have some specific wants, did you try that kind of search?

yes, but i'm having a hard time with the specifics for my situation, so I was hoping for some personal experience.

without downloading hte pdf manual a bullet point "countdown timer" could mean anything from a quick button, to a long sequence of buttons to set and reset. (or it might include beeping AND vibrate)

gymboss looks fairly promising, but doesnt show the TOD on the main display with the timer.

The classic garmin vivoactive has a very low form factor and a couple of really good apps for timers.

I can attest that the vibration is strong They are running between 90-120 these days.

I use my Fenix 3 when I lift and it works pretty well. It would be massive overkill if that's all you were going to do with it. Maybe your phone has a timer?

Check them out in the store, even if you have to ask a salesperson to take it out of the packaging and let you try it out. You can check the detailed online reviews and see if there are any relevant comments that would help you. Some sites allow you to post questions about features.
Make sure you buy it from someplace with a good returns policy, so if you don't like it, you can return it.

my garmin forerunner 230 uses garmin connect iq to add little apps into the watch. One of the ones I have found was a gym timer like what you want. it has large easy to use buttons but is rather expensive for what your after at $200. Garmin may have refurbished models that use the connect iq system of apps.

For the price of an arm band for you phone ($10-12)... "phone has all the gadgets". I use my I-Phone, in an arm band, for my music, timer, recorder and it transfers my work out to MFP and My Garmin Connect.
