I am starting the ‘30 Day Shred’ and am a little worried about the calories My Fitness Pal has given me. I’m currently on 1200 (and struggle to stay within this) but don’t know that this will be enough now that I will be doing such a rigorous program (im a newbie to exercise, so it’s rigorous to me). I am 5 foot 6 inches and around 130 pounds with a high amount of body fat (greater than 30%). To those of you who have similar measurements, how many calories did you eat?

MFP is set up so that you get to eat more calories when you earn them through exercise. So MFP wants you to eat 1200 PLUS the calories you earn through exercise. You won't have to starve. Make sure you get enough protein for recovery...If you still feel that's not enough, eat more. You'll still be in a deficit, but with a smaller deficit, the weight comes off more slowly. It will still work, though! :)

I'm 5'7" and between 135-140 depending on time of the month. I have been on maintenance for over 5 years, but when I was losing, I was set to 1400 PLUS exercise calories. It was slow but it worked, and I've kept it off ever since. At your height, weight, and body fat %, it seems like you might want to look into body recomposition rather than losing more weight.
