College student trying struggling to lose weight!

Hello I'm in my 3rd year of college and I have gained so much weight since high school! It's ridiculous and I've had enough! I never make any excuses to not excersice, but Sometimes I'm just too exausted from homework and class to go to the gym. Any other students out there who can relate?

Me! I lost and maintained 70+ pounds for a few years and then decided to go back to school. I've gained a lot of it back. I have a demanding schedule this semester but I've made time to go on a run at least twice a week and it actually makes school better.0

Same here! Gained 60 lbs since starting university! Lost 26 so far, I finally found my energy. I totally know how this is though! Sometimes I still feel too exhausted! Add me if you'd like! [Content edited by moderators]0

there is a reason why the freshman 20 is a thing...I started college 110lbs and was 130 by the end of my freshman year
what is your class schedule like - can you go to the gym in the morning or mid-day? do you have any room for a gym elective (my university offered things like weight lifting/swimming)?0 -
The good news is you don't have to exercise to lose weight. Maintain a calorie deficit. Weigh your food and log everything you consume. Have patience.0

I used to weigh 102kgs when i was in 1st year.
Currently sitting at 86 kgs out of which most of it is muscle mass.

Yeah I can with time. I'm 18, I take 2-3 classes a semester (first year, 2nd semester), work 25 hours a week, and care for my pets, homework, family time.
So I just set a goal each day - like okay, I work today at 4. Get up early, eat big breakfast, do chores, study for exam, work out, eat a decent sized lunch, pack dinner to eat at work, come home, have some free time (Xbox), study, go on forum here, and bed.
Seems like a lot. But manage the time and you can do it my friends!! I'm new to this fitness and stuff also. My goal is to gain 22 pounds of lean muscle in a year. I'm at 178 right now and want to be 200-210. I'm 6'1"
And I'm 18 plan on going for sports physical therapist so fitness is important0 -
I gained 70 lbs. when I was in college. #stresseater I lost 60 lbs. of it post-college when I moved out of the midwest and to D.C. I'm a lazy cook and also tend to over eat. So pre-portioned foods are my BFFs.
Easy foods I have relied on: Lean Cuisine frozen meals. Hormel packaged dinners. Velveeta shells mac 'n cheese mixed with Idohan mashed potatoes. Quaker instant oatmeals. Blue Diamond unsalted almonds. My fave salad mix (balsamic vinaigrette, pepper, Gorgonzola/cheddar cheese, craisins, tomatoes and onions) with a whole bag of romaine to make it filling. Frozen cauliflower steamables (I feel like broccoli doesn't cook as nicely). Individually packaged carrots from Walmart. Individual microwavable cups of peas from Libby brand.
Granted, the issue with pre-packaged foods is sodium. But I'm of the stance that there's room for growth and pre-packaged isn't a terrible start to avoid feeling overwhelmed. We're not perfect. Better to start somewhere than nowhere!
Don't drink calories -- eat them. Black coffee has nearly zero calories. I *just* discovered unsweetened vanilla almond milk + Nescafe Clasico instant coffee = a 60-calorie (16 oz.) ice coffee. Carry a water bottle with you to mindlessly sip on throughout the day and avoid high-caloric cravings; I prefer putting some ice in mine because I'm less likely to sip on lukewarm water.
Exercise-wise, maybe start out with something small? Trying to walk most places instead of driving/hopping on the bus. Or going for walks with a friend/by yourself on the weekend.0
