How concerned do I need to be about my daily 'fat' goal?

My daily fat goal is 45. I pre-logged my meals for today and I am OVER my daily fat goal by 27. The majority of my 'fat' intake today is coming from coconut milk (included in a meal I made), avocado and almonds. I'm still well within my daily calorie goal, just over the fat goal.

Personally, I like to think of my fat goal as a minimum to hit rather than a ceiling never to exceed.

Calories are what determines weight loss but sufficient dietary fat is important for health.

Fat makes food worth eating. I manually adjusted my macros to give myself more

If you're within your calories, you're fine. Your body also doesn't work on a 24 hour clock - it takes the average of your diet over many days. So some days may be high fat days, and others may be lower. Keep a mental note of how you feel on a high fat day - are you hungry? Are you satisfied? Just for your personal knowledge, as it might help in the future. :)

Getting up to 30% of calories from fat is the upper RDA. I believe that fat intake should be based on bodyweight and grams, with .4 gram per pound as a good minimum.

If you go by the former, my goal would be 82 grams at maintenance. By the latter, it is 55. I generally stay in the 55-80 range but don't worry if I go higher and don't think others should either.

@AgidGirl if I remember rightly from other posts you've made you've just started logging (sorry if this is wrong). Focus on your calories first and get that under control when you're happy you've gotten your calorie goal under control, then look at your macros and work out what is best for you.

Saw this on another post at some point, not sure which one:

@tinkerbellang83tinkerbellang83 Yes, thanks I am a newb! That chart is an excellent reminder to me about what is really important. Once I get my calories in check I can drill down and worry about the rest. Thanks for your reply!
