Gain weight in winter

I seem to be unable to lose the extra 5 pounds I put on each winter. I usually lose it in spring but why? Same restricted calorie intake same 4 days a week at gym.

Do you eat more processed food in the winter with more sodium ?0

It is cold outside, this causes people to be more sedentary. Comfort food is also good when cold and usually high in calories.0

My NEAT is higher during gardening season. (I do log sustained periods of gardening, but not all the random bits, which apparently add up.)0

My exercise schedule is the same for summer vs winter but I know I'm way more active in the summer. After dinner in the summer I'd often take my kids for walks. Now? We sit around watching tv or doing homework or reading books. Maybe I clean the house, that's the most active I get! I've found that I have to eat about 1700 calories a day to maintain my weight, compared to summer where I would lose weight at 1700.0
