Do you log when you use sea salt on your food?

I was just curious if everyone/anyone will log if you sprinkle sea salt on your food? I don't mean in cooking but on your food right before you eat it? I use some on lunch salad and lunch and at dinner. Tonight I looked at the nutritional info and it's 540 mg of sodium!!! Maybe that is why I am not losing as fast as I want to? I drink alot of water during the day...anywhere from 96-120 ounces.

For most people, in most cases, there's only so much water you're going to retain*, so if your sodium consumption is fairly constant, once you've retained that much water, that's it. You're only going to mask a certain amount of fat loss with the retained water; it won't go on indefinitely. If you had this habit of sprinkling sea salt on your food before you started reducing your calories (you are reducing your calories, aren't you?), it's a wash.

If your sodium consumption is not fairly constant, it's going to make it hard to see the overall trend of fat loss because you'll be cycling your water retention up and down and it will be hard to see what's going on with the fat loss.

*If you continue retaining more and more water, to the point of visible bloating and tight skin, get to a doctor or an emergency room immediately.

Yes I am reducing calories...and yes, I always have done this. Thanks for your post...it makes sense. I know it's about calories in/out. Just wanted to make sure it wasn't a factor. This go around at almost 49, I allow myself to eat what I want and drink wine occasionally and it puts me over and is the obvious culprit for my slow weight loss!

I need to track sodium, so I would- but before I had to track everything, I didn't worry about logging it.
