I've seen different websites suggest different percentages for macros, I've seen 40% carbs, 30% fat, 30% protein and 50, 30, 20...how do you know which is right for your body?

There is no right %. There is no perfect macro ratio. Your macros should be appropriate for your goals and your eating preferences.
Also, if you work the math... on a 1500 calorie diet, the differences in 30% vs 35% vs 40% in a given macro isn't very significant. IMO, this isn't something worth getting hung up on.0 -
Forget percentages. 0.8g to 1g of protein per pound of lean mass, 0.3g of fat per pound of body weight, everything else into carbs.0
