So I have never been a small girl and honestly I always hated looking at myself but now I hate myself more than ever and I truly just want to be able to go to a clothing store and not look around for plus size

Welcome! This is a great place to get advice and get started on a path to a healthier you. As you lose weight it's important to work on how you see yourself. Weight loss doesn't magically make you love yourself, I wish it did. The loving yourself is something you work on and build as you work towards being leaner.
My biggest pieces of advice as you start would be:
1. Start out logging everything you eat, don't worry initially if you are over your calorie goal.
2. Learn to use a food scale.
3. Along the way develop eating habits that you enjoy and can continue after you have reached your goal.
4. Find exercise you enjoy, if you enjoy it you are more likely to do it. Doesn't have to be running or lifting weights (although those are good to add in as you are comfortable with being active).
Good luck!3 -
I know how you feel. I'm starting over . I was down to 189 in 2014 and now I'm 226 . I'm making this my lifestyle and staying with it. I want to get out of plus size also.5

You can do it! And always learn to love yourself. List 5 positive things about yourself - go! Love your body at every stage.
*Have patience! A lot of us - including myself have feelings of giving up, defeat, like it's not happening fast enough or whatever and we have to just keep pushing. Never quit, if you have a set back just start new the next day or next meal or next workout.
*Don't compare yourself to others. Be competitive with yourself - try and improve your walking distance, the weight your lifting, deeper stretch, etc. Compare yourself to who you were yesterday.
*Find healthy recipes - there are so many online. When I feel myself getting bored with what I'm eating I go on Pintrest or on the recipes chat category here. I have found healthy recipes for pizza, tacos, desserts and more.
Hope this helps. Glad you're here4 -
I am right there with you. I am at the most i have ever been in my entire life and one week now on my diet and now new to this site, i am very determined to lose this weight and get to my goal and maintain it. I am now drinking only water and coffee (1 cup a day) and eating mainly salad and grilled chicken. Good luck to everyone who is on this journey, WE CAN DO IT!!6

Understand completely. I've been up and down, all the way from 280 at top to 120 at the lowest. For me it's a constant battle -- and I'm with you on the hating myself. But I try to remind myself that I'm not a loser unless I stop trying. So I have a set-back. Pick myself up and try again.
The thing is, you CAN do it. And maybe a place to start is to try just saying to yourself, I love myself and I can do it. Or whatever words you need to hear. If you can, say "I love myself" while looking in a mirror. Truthfully, I avoid mirrors right now -- but even not looking and saying a positive message has helped me.
But hang in there, and just make a commitment to yourself. Not for anyone else -- just for you! You ARE worth it!5 -
You're in the right place!
Last year at this time I didn't believe I could lose weight, now there's 40 lbs gone and I just went shopping for new pants. All you need to know is this. You can do it too. Do a bit of research around how to set up your daily calories and how to track properly and DO NOT GIVE UP!! You needn't do anything drastic, no "get slim fast" tricks, this is a life change.
We are here for you and we believe in you.1 -

You don't have to just eat chicken and salad. You can eat anything you like as long as you eat it in a portion size that fits your calories.
I eat ice cream some times and I eat chocolate, crisps/chips. I also save calories during the week to have a drink at weekends. My diary is open so feel free to look.
If you're going to do this for life you should eat in a way you can keep up and not quit.
Good luck2 -

There's something called self compassion, you'll need it, otherwise you'll lose weight and still not like yourself. Google it and start practicing, it's a practice not a feeling, and your weight loss journey will go better, the main thing is learning not to beat yourself up, but to keep going.0

most of my meals now fit on a saucer rather than a full sized plate... Like the rest of the poster suggest... YOU are now in the right place... think of this as your decision to begin loving yourself and giving yourself an opportunity to make some changes for the better in your life... PRIMARY... forgive yourself... we all drop the ball once in a while... but as long as you dust yourself off and get back at it before too long, YOU are going to be so far down the road you will never want to look back.1

If you don't love yourself now, you won't love yourself after losing weight. Learn to accept your body and appreciate who you are. Weight loss is easier when you approach it with compassion rather than disgust.0

It breaks my heart to see those words "I hate myself" I think it's great that you are taking steps to find a supportive community and work on your health! I think you should also seek out ways to work on positive self talk and your relationship with yourself once you learn to love yourself everything will be so easy because you will truly believe you desserve it!!! All the best2

Welcome!!! You are for sure in the right place !! Lost of good information in the forums and never be afraid to reach out and ask questions. No question is stupid!! You have been given some great advice on this thread. I would like to add to that by saying do not deprive yours of of the things you like. If you like chocolate have it. Just do it in moderation. You can have anything you want as long as it fits in your calorie goal. I'm down almost 60 # and have never not ate what I wanted. I will send you a friend request. Anyone else is welcome to add me as well. Good luck!!0
