I have been trying to lose weight for most of my teenage years. I am not overweight, but I am definitely soft all around with too much jiggle.
When I was 15, I was by far done with puberty, so I started on birth control, and went from a chubby 120lbs (I carried weight mostly in fat, so I've never been a conventional skinny) to 135lbs in a week, and it was very visible, especially in my tummy. I wanted to lose that weight so badly. I would exercise and try to eat healthy foods, but to no result. I spent the next two years gaining weight, despite my best efforts. A few years ago, I met with my doctor to try to figure out why - turns out I have hypothyroidism. I started on medications and treatment, but soon found that most hormone therapy interferes with other medications I have to take, so the dose has to be kept quite low. Weight loss is possible, but very hard.
So, my doctor recommended counting calories. We soon found that I was eating way too few - 800 or 900 tops. He told me to try to get them about 1200, so I did, and promptly gained another 10 pounds. So we tried reducing them to my normal 900 and I got down to 135 again.
I was 17, 135 pounds, and got teased for looking "pregnant" far too many times than I'd like to remember. Then, I met Charlie, He encourages all of my good habits, and makes my failures seem so much less like failures. He loves me no matter my figure and always makes me feel beautiful. He's not the healthiest person but tries and he goes to the gym and I started going with him. I still haven't lost any weight, but I figured maybe if I try counting calories again, maybe this time I'll be able to find some helpful tips and support in this community.
I'll be 20 soon, and I'd like to be back to around 120 pounds. Maybe I'll gain some more muscle mass and be lean and fit this time. My goal is to hit my 20th birthday in January and be completely able to maintain a thinner weight.
I'm hoping I can find some friends in this community too!I
