Losing faster without exercise?

Hey everyone! I don't know if this a fluke or what but it almost seems like I lose weight more easily without exercise. It's like every week I step on the scale I'm down. Where as when I'm exercising I don't always lose consistently or my weight seems to stall for weeks at a time. I do love exercising because of the mood boosts and the way it shapes my body but it never seems like it's much help for the scale. I've only been off these past couple of weeks from my workout schedule because I've tweaked my back somehow and wanted to rest it. If weight loss is just calories in and calories out, I thought that I should lose more if my workout is giving some extra calories out. Anyone else experience this? I still have 30 lbs to lose and I'm almost considering waiting until I only have 10 lbs left to lose to start back working out.

Exercise causes inflammation and you hold onto more water to repair damaged tissue.
ETA: many people also subconsciously eat more as well.0 -

^^ This. Also, when I work out, my appetite tends to go up. I stick to my calorie goal and only eat back a little bit of my exercise calories to make sure I'm not giving myself too much. It helps. If you find you snack more or take workout supplements this might be the issue.1 -
Muscle weighs more than fat too, so when you cease working out and aren't sustaining or building that muscle, the mass you lose might account for it. Not sure your body composition or anything obviously, just stating.0
