I have to agree with others that the most critical part of your weight loss is finding foods and exercise you enjoy and can follow for the rest of your life. And eating only enough each day to create a calorie deficit. If you deprive yourself of the foods you love, you will struggle to maintain steady weight loss.

This is a marathon, not a sprint, and there is no finish line. Once you reach your goal weight you will still need to be mindful of what you eat.

Eat less, move more to create a calorie deficit.
Set up MFP with your stats, your goal, and a reasonable rate of loss appropriate for the amount of weight you have to lose.
MFP will provide you a calorie target with a deficit built in.
Eat a variety of foods to reach that target that provide you nutrients (macro and macro), satiety (fills you up) and enjoyment (keeps you motivated).

No special diet needed, and both of the ones you mentioned result in a pretty extreme approach to food. If you don't have a medical reason to eat one of these particular ways, and this is for weight loss only, then neither is necessary.

If you have any sort of insulin resistance, LCHF may help you lose - mainly by improving your health.

If you have hypercholesterolemia, a LFHC diet will be healthier.

If you are perfectly healthy, it doesn't really matter.

I'd say just have 1/2 your plate veggies, a small handful (1/4 or even 1/8) of the plate starch or carbs, and then a small serving (palm size, roughly) of lean meat. It's absolutely okay to have high carb or high fat food, but only in moderation, and of course it is easier to go over with calories by eating toast than eating some leafy greens...so it is all about portion control. :)
