I started college this year and i realized that i gained 35 lbs ever since i started. before i went to france in my senior year of high school, i lost 40 lbs and gained 5 in france. But right now I'm SO DISCOURAGED it feels like I'm never going to be able to lose weight what motivates you in a situation like this?

I'm on the other end, senior year, gained a whopping 40lb over the last year! What really motivated me to buckle down is the thought of my graduation in May. I want to feel confident and look decent in photos for that milestone day!
Of course the same goal isn't quite right for you, but it may help to set your sights on a big upcoming event. Maybe for you, you could plan to lose some or all of that weight by the start of the fall semester. That's a really good amount of time to get back on track and set up a healthier lifestyle for the rest of your college experience.
Whatever happens, don't be too hard on yourself. You go up, you go down, it all comes around1 -

I gained 50+ lbs over the course of 4 years of college, I am in my last semester and I just started (back in January) to lose the weight. I told myself I was going to give back however much it has given me, but truthfully, I would like to lose about 30 lbs, I am only 3 lbs in right now, but I think that losing weight and maintaining weight should be a process. The faster you lose the weight, the faster you will gain it back because it is about the change of habits. Just think of the changes you are making to your lifestyle: going to the gym 2-3 times each week, eating healthier, taking stairs instead of the elevator, walking to class instead of taking the shuttle, etc.0

This is not my business to say to you at all because I don't know you, so please don't take this the wrong way, but when I was 18 I started taking birth control pills. I gained like 15 pounds and I was also hungry all the time. I just started suffering with it but when I stopped taking them at 23 the weight just dropped back off pretty much effortlessly. Like I said please don't take it the wrong way it was just my experience.0

I gained 15 lbs in my first year of university, but lost it all (plus an additional 5 lbs) from working in a warehouse for my summer job. Being on my feet and pushing around a cart 8 hours a day was enough to help me lose the weight.
Fast forward to my third year of university and I gained 30 lbs from taking antidepressants. I managed to lose it by eating a deficit.
It's definitely discouraging but with enough effort, you *will* lose it. Good luck1 -

Why do you want to be motivated to lose weight? Your answer to that question "is" your motivation!1

Just start making some basic changes to your diet and use MFP. Start a workout program, doesn't have to be in a gym. Add me as a friend and i can give you a little more detail.0

When I went to community college the gym membership was included in tuition. Do you have a gym there? I would get used to using the lockers and exercise there before class or after when the traffic is bad. You should try to talk to whoever knows about the gym hours etc., and see if you could use the lockers. I am use they would give you the info you would need. I would definitely try to utilize that gym on campus that way you could be more inclined to be on campus and take the whole college experience serious. More time spent on college will have you more serious about your grades I would imagine. Would be good you know?1
