Hi all,
So now on stage 7 of NROLFW and I am noticing that I am getting broken blood vessels (just small pinpoints of blood under the skin, clustered like a rash) on my forearms. I don't feel that I am over exerting myself although the workouts are certainly tough. Is this normal? Does it happen to anyone else?
Thanks!

I want to bump this. I hope you get an answer.
I have a few of those in random places, I develop them in the last month of my pregnancies. Mine are permanent. I don't think it's normal to get so many so quickly!!0 -
I use to get them on my face from intense cardio if its same thing goes away tho.0

Are you sure it's broken blood vessels and not a rash? It's not uncommon for the sweat to irritate your skin if left to sit and dry. This is often the case with heavy lifting since you exert yourself, then take a breather, then repeat. The salt can dry out the skin and abrade surface, resulting in what you have described. If so, it typically goes away once your skin gets used to the abuse. You can also try bringing a clean towel or washcloth to dry off with so that the sweat doesn't sit and dry as badly (that helped me stop getting something similar on my neck and upper arms when I started insanity).0

The above might help then.0 -
That article is about the eyes though :-/0

True, but a lot of the basic principles are the same. The breaks are due to putting abnormal amounts of pressure on the vessels. They should heal on their own in about a week. As logn as you don't get pain accompanying the burst vessels you should be fine. If it keeps happening each time you lift, you might want to consult with a doctor just to make sure there is no underlying condition.0

I got some on my hands about a month ago and it really freaked me out so I decreased my weight and did really high reps. That was my way of letting them rest.
Mine went away within three weeks and I am just slowly upping my weight so maybe they'll adapt..
It's a mystery to me, that's just what has been working for me.0 -
It will stop happening after a while0

Google idiopathic thrombocytopenia purpura and see if that describes what is going on? It will often show up in lifters when there were no other symptoms previous b/c the person was not having such amounts of pressure on their skin. It can be pretty harmless but might be the answer you are looking for. You should take a photo ( just in case you don't have any pinpont hemorrhages on the day of your visit) and bring it up with your doc on your next visit.0 -
I have them. Very little tiny dots. some in a cluster some sparratic. On my arms mostry on the inside; a couple of dots on my chest some on my back. I also found 2 on my head, they are a little bigger. I have asked 5 doctors they told me its fine and they are not sure exactly what that is. About a year ago I finished P90X and worked out pretty hard and they appeard. Now with work I have no time to work out at all but they still appear and they do not go away. I tried to research it and there is no condition that even slightly resembles what i have. Doctors do not know.
I have an appt for a blood test to check my liver and my thyroid on firday and then i see a dermatology specialist again maybe this one will shed some light.0 -
It happens a lot under heavy load or a very "stressful" lifts if you will- from what I hear it's kind of a none issue- it's just scary as hell when you see it in your neck and into your face.
I wouldn't worry about it. ...unless it's causing pain or issues- then obviously- see the doctor.0
