So I hurt my rib cage just over a week ago and have been starving ever since. Is it because I can't go on my daily walk or something to do with healing the injury.

I've never heard of an injury causing hunger.

Do you think its because you are sitting around more you are wanting to eat out of boredom?

    Agreed, it's boredom.

Are you eating food? have you spoken with a health professional about this?

If you're still eating at a deficit, that will actually impact the time it takes your body to heal from injury. You should really consider eating at maintenance until you feel better. More calories and no weight gain (Well, smidge of water weight).

I have not been able to stay at my 1 lb per week deficit. More like .5 or less so I guess that is OK since I guess I need more food to heal.

Your body needs protein for the healing process.

Eat at maintenance and make sure you are hitting your protein goal.

I've read it many times on a lot of the running forums. Around 10-20% increase in sedentary calories is the recommended.
If you can't run or train anymore than that is likely a huge drop in the amount of calories you can eat. I'll see if I can find an article on it.
