Intermittent Fasting - Whoes trying and what were your results?

I have recently started intermittent fasting on a 16/8 split. I was excited to give it a try after seeing what it has done for my friend and I love it so far. The weight seems to be falling off and my appetite is the lowest it has ever been. I find myself struggling to finish meals that I could usually eat 3 plates of. So who has tried Intermittent Fasting and what were your results? Any tips to make this a continued success would be greatly appreciated!

    It is working well for me, using the same split as you do. I also do weight training and cardio 3 times per week and have cut way back on sugar and bread in my diet. The combination is working, and the weight is finally coming off. I believe I need to drink more water, and give up alcohol completely if I really want to meet my final weight loss goals - and adding variety to my work out routines will help with the inevitable plateau.

    I don't stop eating at a particular time but I don't eat untill after 1pm daily. It helps me since once I eat I'm snacky all day so by cutting out the hours of awake-late lunch I am able to maintain my deficit more comfortably. Trial and error with what your split should look like.

    I've been Intermittent Fasting 16/8 going on 80 days! I like it just because it saves me time in the morning and I can eat two larger meals.
  • When I wasn't able to control my eating habits IF helped me out with that. Timing my meals around the end of the day so I would go to bed full.

    However I don't believe it has any benefits to increasing the amount I've lost when compared to traditional dieting. Tested through a few bulking/cutting cycles. My experience with it atleast.

    I do a mostly 16/8 split during the week... weekends can be a crapshoot based on family/kids stuff.

    It hasn't done anything special for me... it's still up to me to eat within my calorie goal and stay on track with my macros. But it does line up with many of my normal tendencies/preferences -- I prefer to eat more later in the day, I prefer to eat larger meals and feel full. I prefer to workout on an empty stomach.

    Plus, it gives me just a little bit of structure, and I like structure.

    I did it for a few months. It's not magical but can be a great way for some to keep their calories in check. Unfortunately, with my schedule, IF impacted my workouts so I stopped.

    I tried it. It didn't work for me as it set me up in a restrict-binge/overeating cycle. Having my meals spread out while I'm awake works best for me.

    Tried it... was always starving and had bad breath. Didn't lose at a faster pace or anything.

    Like others have mentioned there is no benefit in terms of fat loss, the benefit is adhering to your deficit in a way you can manage. If you feel it's easier to live with 2 larger meals vs a bunch of little ones and that is going to help YOU go the long haul, then yes there's a benefit. Ultimately it's CICO but picking a plan of attack that you are most likely to stick to is just as important imo.
