How many Calories should you have a day?

    Depends on your age, weight, goal weight and how much you want to lose in what time frame. MFP can set that up for you :)

    It all depends on your TDEE (total daily energy expenditure) this is basically your daily calorie burn in total. MFP will have worked this out for you when you joined, or a quick google will find a similar calculator.

    To lose weight all you need to do is eat less calories than your TDEE, thus creating a deficit.

    The size of that deficit will determine how quickly you lose the weight, be careful of losing too fast though, it has to be sustainable above anything else. I'd recommend a pound loss per week, which is a 500 cal deficit.

    You need to make sure your calories going IN (food and drink) and the calories coming OUT (TDEE) are measured, that is what MFP and some decent scales are for.

    Put in your stats to MFP and the amount you would like to lose per week and that's the calories you should aim for,.
