up front: this is more of a whiny rant than anything else ;)

does anyone else search for low calorie/healthy/low-carb/diet-of-choice/etc recipes and in the middle of all those nice healthy-looking pictures there's some "triple chocolate oreo 'better-than-sex' delight" type recipe picture? Drives me crazy lol! I find myself needing to click it and look at the ingredient list, and try to figure out if I can make it work in the calorie budget.

I'm all for fitting delicious foods into my life when possible, but I look at some of these recipes, things that I see people bring in for potlucks or parties, and I wonder, how do regular people do it? how do they make these high calorie casseroles/desserts/etc and not gain? If I even glance in the general direction of these things I'm heavier by 5lbs haha!! ugh why is life so unfair at times =P

/end whiny post

Yes, I agree - life is not fair. if it was, I would be taller, thinner, blonder and have green eyes. But it aint gonna happen!

I do look at the cake stuff too, and also try to figure out how to make it lower calorie. I even go so far as to import it into the MFP recipe builder, just to torture myself with how many calories it really works out to be. Usually, I abandon the idea and just accept that a fibre brownie will be my chocolate hit for that day!!

@EggToni I try not to, but its so hard sometimes LOL! ;)

@cross2bear I also will enter the recipe, and then try to modify the ingredients to see if it gets any better haha!! generally not =P I also try to find ways to make it single serving, because I wouldn't mind making something higher calorie, I just can't have a tray of it available to eat all the time lol
