Hi

After running for about 2 years, I have recently added swimming and aquathlon. Plan to work up to Triathlon over the next year or so. I'm a bit of a numbers geek and love my running watch so am looking into getting a multisport watch to track new activities.

What watches do you use and why do you love them?

TIA

I've got a Garmin 920, which is a great multisport watch. To me, it's the best out there.

Garmin's other multisport watches function very similarly, but I like the square face on the 920 - it is easier to read (IMO) once you start cramming a ton of data on the screen. I also love the quick-release kit (I'm not sure if the fenix series has that option).

The ONLY downside to the 920, IMO, is that it's a terrible every-day watch. And considering the price tag, I'd love to get more use out of it than strictly as training/racing tool.

Suunto's hardware quality is probably better than Garmin's, but I'm not so sure about their software. They are trying to compete with/catch Garmin, but that's a tall ask. That said, I'd still consider them a player.

I use a Polar V800 - similar to the garmin 920 - but for me it had a slightly smaller watch face (although a tad thicker) - and since I have tiny wrists it works

supposedly the Garmin Vivoactive can be used for triathlons - it has a swim mode and that is slightly cheaper (and maybe works better as an all day watch)

Another fan of the Garmin 920 here. Love the large screen, since my eyes aren't as sharp as they once were. I also like the simplicity of its functions and how easily it pairs with power meters, etc. Now, when I get home from a training session, the workout data has been automatically synced and sent to my Training Peaks account for viewing. Pretty cool.

I"ve never owned a Suunto device, but have several friends who like the Polar v800.

I'd look into a Garmin Fenix 3 because the Fenix 5 is shipping now. Both are excellent watches, but the F5 being a new Garmin is going to be buggy, and the F3 being recently dethroned is falling in price. It'll do everything you could ever dream of for triathlon use.
