Hello fellow fitness seekers. My name is Ron and I am a 48 yr old male 5'11" and 298 lbs at my heaviest. It has been 25 years since my last excersise program. Joined my local sports centre gym and have gone 8 days in a row now. Spent the last 2 winters laid up due to back and neck problems associated with age and my sedentary lifestyle. That 1st day back at a gym was extremely difficult and painfull but I managed to squeek out 1 mile on a treadmill. It took me almost 1 hr to do it but I felt better than I have in many years afterwards. I went back the next day and walked 2 miles. Well day 8 was yesterday and I walked 3 miles and ran 3/10ths of a mile in the morning and went back in the evening and did a set of circuit machines focused on upper body strength. It should be noted that for most of this past winter I couldn't even tie my shoes, wipe my own backside or get out of my chair without assistance. Several times this winter I just wanted to be dead so the pain of the lifestyle I was in would stop.
Well I'm out of the chair and feeling better every single day. My 2 main goals are to lose 50 lbs by the end of summer and enter and complete a 5km run next spring. Gives me plenty of time to take some weight off and train for a 5km run.
Hey if you like my story add me as a friend and we may be able to help each other obtain our fitness goals. Good luck everyone and stay focused.
