Different cals etc for the same item

Hello,

I wanted to add lean chicken breast no skin raw from the butchers onto my daily log. Simple yes, no it came with lots of different cals, carbs, fat, some even came with sodium. There is one where there is a difference of 100 cals. How do you choose the right one without under or over estimating?

Many thanks
Wendy

There are many entries for most foods in the database - many user entered, with errors unfortunately. If it's something without a label, adding USDA to your search generally gives you an accurate entry to use.

If you know the brand used- like Perdue, Foster farm, Rosie's, use it. If not do your best guess, the above link is good.

The sodium thing is tricky because some brands have added saline.

    ^ This.

To bring up the food items originally entered by MFP staff based on the USDA information...

Search for chicken raw in the format "chicken broilers raw"

Search for chicken cooked in the format "chicken broilers roasted" [Options: fried/boiled/stewed/etc.]
