Here's something I heard a friend say to a 'helpful' family member who said something similar.

"My doctor is requiring me to reach a certain weight before she considers me fit and healthy. It's not about looks, it's about health."

Your goal seems healthy and reasonable to me. As long as you know what you want, and you are being and feeling healthy, do your thing and ignore the rest!

I'm getting some of the same comments from my family. I think it's because I'm smaller than I ever have been, including high school, but I still feel like I have 15-20 pounds to lose. My response is, "I'm eating healthy and plentifully and exercising moderately and I believe my body will stop where it's supposed to." So far no one has had a comeback for that so it seems to be working.

I think this is a great response :)
Your goal is not unreasonable, so don't let people sway you from it! Great job so far and best of luck getting to where you want to be :)

Personally, I think that might be too thin for your height and age

What does age have to do with anything??? I'm 40. Am I supposed to add 10 pounds over the next 10 years just to be "age-appropriate" for a 50 year old? Then, how much do I have to gain when I turn 60???

A healthy weight has nothing to do with age.

Age has NOTHING to do with it and I think 150-160 would be great for 5'8"!

I am 6'1" and shooting for 160 (9lbs to go) I have gotten comments from family "you're too thin, you need to stop etc." For me I lose weight from my upper body first so my top looks really skinny but my bottom not so much. My Grandma isn't paying attention to my rear end so all she sees is my skinny neck and shoulders  Don't let them get you down! You know your body, you see it like they can't. You will NOT look tooo skinny (half dead) at 150 at 5'8"! You can finish this! Go girl! I wish you the best of luck!:flowerforyou:

I think your goal is perfectly acceptable. Try to ignore the naysayers. Do what you feel needs to be done to be happier and healthier :)

Based on the Robinson formula (1983), your ideal weight is 138.0 lbs
Based on the Miller formula (1983), your ideal weight is 141.1 lbs
Based on the Devine formula (1974), your ideal weight is 140.9 lbs
Based on the Hamwi formula (1964), your ideal weight is 139.1 lbs
Based on the healthy BMI recommendation, your recommended weight is 121.7 lbs - 164.4 lbs

In short, make your own goals and decisions and ignore them all. You can listen without responding of course and carry on your merry way to whatever destination you feel comfortable. Congrats on your success.
